At Mintel, our commitment to making a positive difference in our communities is at the heart of what we do. As we continually reinforce this dedication, we take immense pride in recognizing the invaluable contributions of Mintel Gives – our dynamic employee-led committees spread across the globe. These passionate teams have been the driving force behind our mission, consistently delivering remarkable results.
In 2023, through Mintel Gives, we led a diverse range of community initiatives that aligned seamlessly with our commitment to social equality, environment, mentorship, and education. Partnering with 51 non-profit organizations worldwide and bringing together Mintel employees through volunteer work, fundraising, or awareness campaigns, every initiative marked a significant step towards a better, more inclusive world.
Our fundraising efforts raised an astonishing total of $84,500 globally. Additionally, we engaged in several monetary donation-matching initiatives, supporting causes particularly close to our employees’ hearts.
In our drive towards environmental sustainability, volunteers from our Chicago office collected 26 kg of waste in a river clean-up initiative and contributed to urban greening through the Maxwell Street Community Garden project. Similarly, our Düsseldorf team dedicated their time to cleaning the shores of the river Rhine. In Malaysia, we supported the Green Waqaf Initiative, focused on establishing healthy forest corridors, protecting endangered species, and offsetting carbon emissions.
In line with our education and mentorship objectives, eight employees from our Singapore office participated in the Volunteer Teaching Program, an initiative of the Stepping Stones Foundation to teach English to disadvantaged children throughout the Fall semester. In Thailand, we supported the Pringpuangkaew Library Project, ensuring 53 children had access to new educational books and creative materials like crayons and colored pencil sets.
Additionally, as part of Mintel’s yearly summer internship program dedicated to empowering young Black and Minority Ethnic talents, we welcomed 3 interns from our partner organizations, Voyage Youth and Urban Synergy Mentoring in the UK, and 1 intern from Epic Academy in Chicago. Here’s a video by one of our interns showcasing a day in the life of an intern at Mintel.
Our commitment to building stronger communities was evident in various projects this year. In the UK, 30 employees braved heavy rains to hike Snowdon, raising funds for the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), an organization dedicated to mental health. Meanwhile, in Belfast, we donated Easter Eggs to Ukrainian children now living in Northern Ireland, aiming to make them feel welcomed and integrated into our local community. Additionally, our Belfast team expressed their love for animals, with 9 volunteers dedicating their time at the Assisi Animal Sanctuary.
In India, six volunteers supported the #WomenRiseUp campaign in partnership with the Swadesh Foundation, empowering 20 women towards self-sufficiency. While in In Chicago, a team of 11 volunteers participated in the Habitat for Humanity House Build Project, symbolizing our dedication to community development. Additionally, our efforts extended to local needs in Chicago, with 33 volunteers preparing 240 lunches for Sarah’s Circle’s food program.
Finally, as the year comes to an end, the festive season brings additional opportunities to give back. Our London team held a beauty sale to aid associated charities, and our Belfast colleagues engaged in a Christmas shoebox campaign. Additionally, our Dusseldorf office took part in the “Take a Wish – Fulfill a Wish” project, assisting children and teenagers, and also arranged a festive bazaar and auction.
