Tesla launched its upgraded version of the Model 3 car on Friday, the first update to its second best-selling model since its debut in 2017.
The starting price of the “refreshed” Model 3 is Rmb259,900 in China, compared with the previous model’s Rmb231,900, Tesla’s website showed. The price increase comes despite a price war in the world’s largest auto market.
The sedan, equipped with a longer driving range, is expected to be delivered in China in the fourth quarter.
Tesla’s Shanghai gigafactory has been developing the new Model 3 for months, with mass production expected to begin in September. The company launched the model in markets including China, Europe and Japan.
