REITs finished the week in green, as positive macro factors gave a boost to other major indices.
The FTSE Nareit All Equity REITs index increased by 1.63% from last week, while the Dow Jones Equity All REIT Total Return Index gained by 1.68%.
S&P500 rose by 2.50%, comparatively.
The Real Estate Select Sector SPDR ETF gained by 1.51%, while mortgage REITs jumped by 4.80% on a weekly basis.
The increase comes as the initial jobless claims report showed a decrease in claims last week and mortgage rates leveled off after recent highs.
Office REITs were the winners of the week, having increased by 4.77%. SL Green Realty (SLG), Vornado Realty Trust (VNO) and Hudson Pacific Properties (HPP), especially demonstrated a strong move in stocks with large short interest this past week.
Hotel REITs came in second, having gained 4.23% from last week.
Timber REITs were comparative laggards, having increased by a mere 0.05%.
