Uber Technologies (NYSE:UBER) is working on adding a handyman service to its app as it looks to expand beyond driving and deliveries.
The potential new service, which is codenamed “Chore,” was found inside Uber’s iPhone app within hidden code strings, according to a Bloomberg report on Friday. The app will allow a “tasker” to be hired for a minimum of one hour. The code was discovered by developer Steve Moser and shared with Bloomberg.
The new potential Uber (UBER) service would likely compete directly with Angi Inc. (ANGI) and TaskRabbit, as well as Craigslist and Frontdoor (FTDR).
An Uber (UBER) spokesman declined to comment to Bloomberg on the code findings. There’s no guarantee that Uber will start the handyman service or a timetable for when it will do so.
