Zoom Video Communications (NASDAQ:ZM) CEO Eric Yuan said on Tuesday that the U.S. Federal Trade Commission should investigate Microsoft’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) bundling of its Teams video software with Office after the tech giant unbundled the software in Europe amid antitrust concerns.
“No matter what, you’ve got to be fair,” Yuan said at Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference, according to Bloomberg.
“We have huge competitors, sometimes they bundle everything together,” Yuan added.
Last month, Microsoft (MSFT) said it would unbundle Teams from its Office product starting October 1 in the European Economic Area and Switzerland. It will sell Microsoft 365 and Office 365 at a lower price of €2 less per month or €24 per year.
The company was hit with several antitrust concerns over the matter, including from Salesforce’s (CRM) Slack and Alfaview, based in Germany.
The European Commission opened an investigation after Teams competitor, Slack, complained about unfair practices in 2020.
Redmond, Washington-based Microsoft (MSFT) did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Seeking Alpha.
Additionally, Zoom (ZM) announced on Tuesday that its generative artificial intelligence tool, Zoom AI Companion, would be available at no additional cost for paid customers.
Zoom (ZM) shares gained more than 2% on Tuesday.
